How to turn a TikTok video into text

You need a public TikTok and a share link. You do not need a TikTok login on this site. The steps below match what the homepage tool does.

Copy a public TikTok URL

  1. Open the video on tiktok.com or in the app.
  2. Tap Share → Copy link. On desktop, copy the address bar.
  3. Paste it into a private browser window. If TikTok asks you to log in before playback, the post is not public enough for this tool.

Useful shapes: /@username/video/, and short links from vm.tiktok.com or vt.tiktok.com. Tracking parameters on the URL are fine.

Run the transcript

  1. Paste the link on the TikTok to Transcript tool.
  2. Set the spoken language if you know it. Auto-detect is acceptable, not ideal.
  3. Most TikToks fit in the first 15 minutes. Leave the time range at 0–15 unless you pasted a longer video.
  4. Start with Auto. Use Extract if you only want TikTok captions. Use AI if captions are missing or wrong.

What you can do with the text

Copy it into notes or a CMS. Download TXT for documents. If you need timed captions in CapCut, Premiere, or Descript, use SRT. For a web player, use VTT. Read the TikTok to SRT guide if you are captioning a short.

When it fails

The usual causes are a private account, Friends-only, a login wall, a live video still in progress, or a clip with no speech. If you own the file, use Upload on the homepage and skip TikTok entirely.
